Okay, so it’s almost three week since my last posting… ๐ณ
It’s fair to say that some people (mentioning no names, Grace) have been giving me a hard time about the lack of updates in recent times… can’t think why really โ โ โ ๐ Well, for the benefit of the one(?) person out there that we haven’t called recently, here is a bit of a “catch up” I did finally get home from the boat on Monday the 12th September. (a little bit of history here, for those that don’t really know me) I don’t drive…. I have never driven… and at the age of 40-odd, didn’t really think that i needed too (especially as for at least 60% of the time, I’m out in the middle of one ocean or another!) however.. Dazzle has intimated to me that it was about bloody time that I did drive. To this end I had previously (a few years ago) taken some lessons, which had tailed off when we had moved house. In May of this year I did a block of lessons over about 48 hours, culminating in taking my test, which I failed (by the narrowest of narrow margins, coupled with the fact that it was on a Friday and his quota for the week was probably full and any other excuse that I can possibly think of at short notice. ๐ ) Anyway, to get back to my story, sorry, catch up, I got the train up from Newcastle to Aberdeen, where Dazzle picked me up at the train station. She drove us out to “Costco”, an Aberdeen wholesalers, where we have an account, to do some shopping, after which she decided that it would be a good idea to let me drive home. Hmmm…. first time behind a wheel for three and a half months, in Aberdeen rush hour…. ๐ฏ Well, I guess I had to get used to it as, for the majority of the leave, I was in the driving seat (literally, if not figuratively โ ) I guess that it must have paid off (or shown that there was some method in Dazzle’s madness) as, on Thursday, I re-sat my driving test and passed (much to my own astonishment, if no-one elseโs โ ) As to other news, well, Dazzle had an operation and a few days in hospital in the middle of my leave (more details on that in her journal), I combined visiting with Dazzle in hospital with a couple of days in the office all to add extra days at the end of the year. I’m going back to the boat on Monday with the knowledge that I only have 13 more days to do to fulfil my contract, then everything is “double bubble” By the 16th of October, everyday is extra money in the “Colorado” piggy-bank! We haven’t appeared to have had a lot of interest in the house. ๐ฅ According to the woman at the estate agents, our schedule had been down-loaded 222 times (though 2 of those were probably Dazzle here and me on the boat!) The woman changed a couple of things last week, which re-set the counter, and since last Friday it had been down-loaded another 290 times! (still no bloody calls though!) The current thought is that a lot of the down-loads may have been English people and that we may get an avalanche of calls when it comes to English mid-term holidays (or whatever they call the tattie holidays down there!) I’ve got my last week-end with Dazzle, and a few jobs to do before heading off again, and I can only hope (although it is really un-fair) that Dazzle will be really busy with inquiries about the house while I’m gone. At the end of the day, we only really need ONE interested party, with the right price, and we’ll be off to Colorado ๐
